Arrangements for resuming
Mass at St Alban’s Church
We are pleased to be able to re-open for Public Worship from this Sunday, 5th July. We have worked our way through the Guidance from both HM Government and the Church of England, to ensure that using our Building and worshipping together once more is as safe as possible for all of us. This letter briefly outlines how that will work, for the next few weeks at least, before any further easing of restrictions. We can’t for now return completely to what we used to think of as ‘normal’.
Sunday Mornings, 10.00am Mass
The Church Doors will be opened at 9.45am, to give us the opportunity to see that all is ready. 2 metre social distancing remains in place in Church, and Hand Sanitiser must be used on entry and exit. Collection Envelopes may be left on the table. Please follow the one way system to a suitable place in church. The Mass will be said, at this stage there will be no singing, no music, no Choir, and no access to the Dais, Chancel or Sacristy except for the Wardens and Priest and server. The traditional Sign of Peace cannot be shared but it is appropriate to offer a sign of peace in a way which doesn’t breach the social distancing requirements. Holy Communion will be given in the hand, in one kind only. Information about how this is to be done safely will be given in Church.
Wednesday Evenings, 7.00pm Mass
Due to the hygiene requirements to ensure that the COVID virus cannot be passed on in church we need to move our normal Tuesday evening Mass to a Wednesday evening. The Church Doors will not be opened until 6.50pm. The same arrangements as above will apply, the Nave Altar will be used, all seating in the Nave.
It may be that some of you are Shielding and need to continue to do so, or are unsure about coming back to Church quite yet. If so, please can you let Fr Graham know, so that we can continue to be in touch with you.
If you want pastoral support, get in touch via the church Facebook page (link is at the top of this column) or by phoning the vicar (01482 443566).
